The CS reminded staff that transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct are essential to maintaining public trust and ensuring the effective delivery of healthcare services.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Monday urged unity, professionalism, and teamwork among Ministry of Health staff as he leads efforts to transform Kenya’s healthcare system under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

Duale reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering quality, accessible, and people-centered healthcare services in line with President Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The high-level engagement brought together officials from across the ministry’s directorates, programs, and regional offices to align on shared goals and reaffirm their collective responsibility in transforming Kenya’s health sector.

Duale emphasized that the strength of the country’s healthcare system lies in unity and coordination among staff.

“The success of our healthcare system depends on our ability to work together, with professionalism, integrity, and mutual respect, to deliver people-centered services that improve the lives of all Kenyans,” he said.

He further urged ministry employees to maintain open channels of communication and foster collaboration at all levels of service delivery.

“Let us create a workplace environment that prioritizes patient outcomes and efficiency. Our focus must always remain on the people we serve,” he noted.

In his keynote address, the CS highlighted the need to uphold the values and principles of public service as outlined in Article 232 of Kenya’s Constitution.

He reminded staff that transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct are essential to maintaining public trust and ensuring the effective delivery of healthcare services.

“The people of Kenya expect nothing less than excellence, honesty, and dedication from us. These are not just words, they are the foundation of a strong public health system,” Duale said.

He also linked the health sector’s transformation to President William Ruto’s vision of building a globally competitive nation through economic reform, industrialization, and investment in key sectors, including education, technology, and agriculture.

“Health is not just a social good, it is an economic enabler. A healthy population drives productivity, innovation, and growth. That is why health remains a critical pillar under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” the CS explained.

Interactive sessions during the meeting allowed ministry staff to engage directly with leadership, share challenges, and propose innovative solutions to improve service delivery.

The discussions focused on aligning departmental activities with the ministry’s strategic vision and strengthening inter-departmental coordination.
